    You will not receive written instructions with the starter due to current pandemic / work from home environment.

    100% Gulf Coast born and raised by me. Whole wheat / White starter (approx. 50/50 ratio). Dehydrated and ready to wake and bake!
    You will receive enough dried starter to make your own active culture within a few days.
    I use this starter weekly to bake amazing country breads.
    Instructions to Rehydrating Your Gulf Coast Starter
    Day 1
    : Rehydrate
    ▪ Remove starter and place in a clean jar.
    ▪ Add 2-3 tablespoons of water, enough to cover the dried starter, and stir vigorously.
    ▪ Allow the starter and water to sit for a few hours or overnight to ensure the dried starter dissolves completely.
    Day 2:
    First Feeding
    ▪ Add 2-3 tablespoons of flour (rye is great to get the starter going).
    ▪ Stir vigorously until the consistency is like moist paste.
    ▪ Add a little more water or flour, if necessary.
    ▪ Allow the starter to sit for 4 hours in a warm environment (75-80 deg). After 4-8 hours, the starter should show signs of growth. Please be patient as it might take overnight to show signs of activity.
    Day 3
    : Second Feeding and Beyond
    ▪ Add 3 tablespoons of flour and 2 tablespoons of water, and stir vigorously. Or...if you have a scale, just add equal parts of flour and water. When you start to get into the baking side of the operation, you will work in grams.
    Feed starter for 3-5 more days at the same time each day. Discard starter to make room for the feedings.
    For best results, feed 2x a day for a few days before you bake. Gulf Coast Starter gets hungry fast.
