The map is filled with cities, towns, rivers, reliefs and islands. A decorative title cartouche, a compass rose and a mileage scale complete the map

The map has been engraved by Thomas Bowen and published in Miller's "The New, Complete, Authentic, and Universal System of Geography..".

Including all the valuable discoveries made in the most remarkable voyages and travels to different parts of the world from the earliest period to the present time. Particularly all the modern discoveries in the southern and northern hemispheres. Comprising every interesting circumstance, and entertaining narrative, contained in Captain Cook's voyages round the world. Together with all other modern discoveries of other circumnavigators, viz. Lord Mulgrave, Wallis, Carteret, Byron, Anson, Forrest, Clerke, Bougainville, Wilson, King, Gore, Solander, &c. Including those of the Pelew Islands. Also the last accounts of New Holland, and the English Colony of Botany Bay ; and a particular description of Port Jackson, Norfolk Island, &c. where the convicts are now settled, &c. &c. &c. Likewise the substance (systematically arranged) of Bruce's travels into Abyssinia to discover the source of the river Nile in Egypt. Condition:
Very strong and dark impression on good paper. Paper with chains. Map contemporary handcolored. Short margin to the top. Wide lower margin. Wide lateral margins. Corners partially missing. Small foxing and browning. Conditions are as you can see in the images

Mapmaker:
Thomas Bowen (fl. 1767-1790) followed his father as an eminent mapmaker in London. After his father, Emanuel Bowen, died Thomas took over his father's business and inherited his father’s position as mapmaker to George II and Louis XV. Although similarly hard-working and respected, like his father Thomas died in a debtor’s prison.
