    Description

This lovely signed vellum Rookwood vase was made and decorated by E. T. Hurley in 1930.  It features cherry blossoms and branches in muted ethereal colors.  Edward Thomas Hurley (1869-1950) was the son of Irish immigrants who studied with renowned American artist Frank Duveneck.  He started working painting vases at Rookwood in 1896 and worked there for the next 52 years winning a Gold Medal at the 1904 St. Louis Exhibition.
Our vase is 6" tall and 5" in diameter.  It is in great condition with no cracks or chips and one tiny scratch in the blue field at the base of the vase which could be a production flaw. There are a few small spots on the interior base.
