    Description

Rookwood Vase No. 2838 Arts and Crafts Mock Turtleback Blue Matte Made in 1928.
This vase is an exquisite example of the Arts and Crafts era influence. It was made in 1928 by The Rookwood Pottery Company of Cincinnati, Ohio.
With a pleasing blue semi-matte glaze, it has five "mock turtle back" AKA oval panels around the body of the vase. Around the collar, there's a scroll motif, impressed and evenly spaced. They're small circles that look a bit like the "@" symbol.
Measures approx 5~1/8" high, 5" diameter at the widest point on the body. Approx weight in 1 lb, 3.5 oz.
Underside is signed with the Rookwood reversed RP cipher, 14 flames, the Roman Numeral XXVIII (for year of manufacture, 1928) and shape number 2838.
Especially for an item that's more than 90 years old, it is in very good vintage, pre-owned condition.
No chips, cracks, nicks, fleabites or dings. See photos for some dull spots and one minor surface scratch on the glaze plus and dark spots on the interior (unclear if from production or use/age). The production skips are typically seen in vintage pottery.
