A scarce Rookwood Pottery jam jar designed by
Kataro Shirayamadani in the 1940s. Beautiful heavy mottled violet gray glaze, with turquoise blue interior and rim which has a scalloped design. I think this one is a jam jar due to the notch in the rim for a spoon, but have seen others without the notch called a "cigarette holder". Unfortunately, this piece is missing the lid which featured a frog on lily pad. We're hoping someone has broken the bottom of theirs and needs a replacement to match their lid. This could also be used as a small planter if desired. Price is greatly reduced due to lack of lid. Marked faintly on bottom in-mold with Rookwood stamp and number 7002, do not see a date.
Condition:
Good vintage condition, with no cracks or chips. As mentioned, there is NO lid for this jar. Some pops to glaze, a few small scratches.

NO returns for buyer's remorse (i.e. changed mind on item). Returns are only accepted for items that have been described very inaccurately, or have serious issues that were not stated in the listing. Most of what we sell are vintage and used items, so we cannot describe / photograph every single instance of wear.
Money back on returns only, and buyer is responsible for ALL return shipping. Original shipping will not be refunded. Item must be in the original condition it was when received, and must include ALL parts (tags, boxes, papers, etc.).
