Description
This is a very nice example of Rookwood Pottery's Vase shape #2091, produced in the 1910s and 1920s. This one has a yellow glaze and was made in 1922. It has a Mission/Arts and Crafts style, with three raised outlines of a leaf shape. It goes from a light yellow at the top to a more mustard yellow at the bottom, and in the channels formed between the leaf shapes, as the glaze pools and thickens. It is 6.5" tall, and 3" at its widest point.
Condition: No scratches, no cracks, no crazing and no repairs. As made, there is a small base chip (less than 1/8") that appears to have been created by a burst air bubble in the glaze. It is near a few other smaller burst bubbles on the base. (See photos #10-11.) There are a few tiny dark specks in the glaze, and some random pink paint on the underside (Photo #9). Photos #2 and #3 show a few small areas of lighter spots in the glaze. Having said all that, this piece displays beautifully.
