RARE BRONZE SCULPTURE,
BY ROOKWOOD ARTIST,
E.T. HURLEY,
IN EXCELLENT,

Cincinnati artist, Edward Timothy (E.T.) Hurley (1869-1950) is known primarily as a decorator for the Rookwood Pottery, where he worked from 1896 until 1948. He was, in addition, an award-winning creator of hundreds of various other art works, paintings and etchings among them.
Among these other artistic endeavors are Mr. Hurley’s sculptures, in bronze, of whimsically rendered yet practical items for the home. His highly collectible bowls, candle holders, ashtrays, covered boxes, doorstops and other items are often populated with playfully styled members of the animal kingdom, spiders, dolphins, seahorses and turtles, are among his favorite and most frequently used.
For sale here is a bronze Letter Opener, six and one-half inches long, in the form of a female nude. Signed in bronze on the back with Mr. Hurley’s initials (ETH), it is in excellent, original condition.
