Description
Featured in this auction is a magnificent cabinet vase made by Rookwood Pottery. The vase is in excellent, near-mint condition with no chips, no cracks, no crazing and no repairs with only light peppering in the glaze and very-minor scuffing from gentle use. This piece is 5" tall, 1-3/4" wide at the mouth and 3-3/4" wide at the shoulder. The base of the pottery is stamped with the Rookwood Pottery flame mark, the shape number 6100 and the production year XXIX (1929). Stilt marks are visible. The vase features a beautiful, "carved-melon" art-deco motif and floral decoration within panels encircling the vase. This gorgeous glaze is a matte dusty-rose with a darker green overspray that has curdled beautifully on the vase. This glaze color combination was one of the most popular that Rookwood produced in the 1920s and into the art-deco 1930s. The vase does show some very tiny glaze variations. The vase is very clean both inside and out. Check out all 9 photos! This gorgeous vase would look amazing in your favorite display cabinet. It would also be perfect for any Rookwood or American art pottery collector. Check out my other pottery listings!I am offering
