Description
The artist, of this exceptional find, Kataro Shirayamadani, created history at Rookwood from 1887 until his untimely death in 1948.Kataro Shirayamadani's 1928 creations are one of the most sought after of Rookwood’s inventory. His work is featured in many museums, in fact, in 1991, one of Mr. Shirayamadani’s pieces sold for 8,000.
This year, 2021, another flower themed vase, but twice this size and not as lovely in presence, sold for ,000.
This is a true find to be able to own this original piece of history in excellent original condition complementing its outstanding artwork.
Flame mark / XXVIII,(1928) along with the number 233 accompany the artist, Kataro Shirayamadani’s signature on base as seen in a photo.
Vase has a blue hue with elongated leaves complementing pinkish orange wild roses.
Kataro Shirayamadani is known to have an affection for Wild Roses and Poppies.
