. A very early Rookwood piece, the glazed stoneware jug is shape number 41 and made from red clay. The jug is signed with the letter K in a square and attributed to Mrs. Charles A. Kebler, member of the Cincinnati Pottery Club and honorary member of Rookwood Pottery. Mrs. Kebler created a variety of Rookwood pieces from 1879-1886, signing her name with the single initial K within a square.
Because of its superior artistic design and technical production, Mrs. Kebler’s water jug was selected for the Rookwood Museum. On the bottom is the museum accession number 302:00.
