“This bird's-eye view depicts a 1657 battle near Zakroczym on the Vistula River in Poland. This battle took place during the Second Northern War (1655-1660), a series of engagements between Sweden and its adversaries- the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth (1655-60), Russia (1656-58), Brandenburg-Prussia (1657-60), the Habsburg Monarchy (1657-60) and Denmark-Norway (1657-58 and 1658-60). The map was originally published in Pufendorf's important De Rebus a Carolo Gustavo, which tells the official history of the wars of Sweden against Poland and Denmark from 1655 to 1660.”
