11” Rookwood Pottery Hand Thrown Peacock Vase - 2020 Private Commission Signed. Condition is "Used". Shipped with USPS Mail.
Hand thrown and decorated, this elegant peacock vase is part of a privately commissioned set and not to be reproduced. This vase pays homage to the great artists of Rookwood’s past, including Carl Schmidt and Sara Sax.
Potter Morgan Willenbrink threw the vase and hand detailed the plumes before polychrome artist Deb Smith hand decorated each individual feather. A matte blue glaze was used underneath to draw attention to the vibrant details of each plume. A gloss blue-green covers the main feather while a perfectly paired selection of blues and browns complete the inner detail of each feather.
A truly elegant piece for old and new Rookwood collectors alike. Piece was produced in 2020. Signed by both glaze artist and potter. Vase stands slightly taller than 11”.
Condition is like new, however during glaze firing some bubbling did occur in the glossy areas (see photos). While this did require the piece to receive an x on the bottom, it displays beautifully and is certain to grow in value for its unique artistry by the world famous Rookwood Pottery.
